Iron-Rich Baby Cereal Pancakes


  • 3/4 cup iron-fortified baby oatmeal cereal
  • 3/4 cup oat flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 chia egg (1 tablespoon chia seeds + 3 tablespoons warm water, gently mixed)
  • 1 mashed banana
  • 1 cup milk of choice (we like breast or soy milk)


  • In a medium bowl, combine dry ingredients: baby oatmeal, oat flour, baking powder, and cinnamon.
  • In another bowl, combine wet ingredients: chia egg, mashed banana, and milk.
  • Mix the wet and dry ingredients together.
  • On a hot, greased griddle, cook pancakes for 2-3 minutes per side.
  • For baby-led weaning, slice them into strips and serve to baby!


These pancakes go well alongside other great baby-led weaning foods like sliced banana, berries, avocado, or smashed beans.
