10 Creative Ways to Serve Frozen Waffles

January 22, 2024 Alex Caspero and Whitney English

10 creative ways to serve frozen waffles! We’re all about finding ways to make feeding kids a little easier. Frozen waffles are convenient and can still be a nutritious option.

Our kids love frozen waffles. They’re an easy way to get out the door in the morning on those days when you need something fast and filling. But waffles aren’t just for breakfast, either!

That got us thinking: what are some other creative ways to serve frozen waffles besides the standard butter and syrup or warmed fruit combo? After some experimentation in our own homes, we’re sharing the list of ideas with you today.

10 Creative Ways to Serve Frozen Waffles

Whether you purchase frozen pre-made waffles from the store or make a big batch of waffles at home to keep in the freezer for easy grabbing, here are some potential uses.

1. Waffle Veggie Burgers

Kids not keen on burger buns? Try using a toasted waffle as the bun. Fill it with a veggie burger patty, lettuce, tomato, and their other favorite condiments for a new presentation (sometimes that’s all it takes with kids!).

2. Waffle Breakfast Tacos

For kids who love tacos, this is a fun take on breakfast that requires minimal effort. Fold a frozen waffle like a taco shell and fill it with your kiddo’s favorite breakfast toppings. For example, some tofu scramble or vegan breakfast sausage with cheese.

3. Waffle Pops

Insert popsicle sticks into small frozen waffles and dip them in melted chocolate. Sprinkle with hemp seeds for a fun and tasty treat. Try these with different waffle variations, like ones with bananas or berries in the batter.

4. Waffle Pizza Bites

Top mini frozen waffles with pizza sauce and favorite toppings. (This is a great opportunity to encourage your child’s independence in the kitchen by placing their own toppings on). Bake until cheese is melted for a quick and savory snack.

5. Waffle Berry Parfait

Layer toasted waffle pieces with non-dairy yogurt and a variety of fresh berries. Add a drizzle of agave syrup or a sprinkle of granola for extra crunch.

6. Waffle and Nut Butter Stack

Stack toasted waffles with layers of your favorite nut butter (such as almond or peanut butter) and banana slices. Sprinkle with chia seeds for extra nutrition.

7. Waffle Avocado Toast

Toast a frozen waffle and top it with mashed avocado, cherry tomatoes, and a sprinkle of hemp seeds for a creative twist on avocado toast.

8. Waffle Dippers

Cut frozen waffles into strips and serve them with a variety of dipping sauces, such as maple syrup, fruit compote, or yogurt.

9. Waffle Skewers

Thread small waffle triangles onto skewers along with fresh fruit like strawberries, banana slices, and blueberries. Serve with a side of yogurt.

10. Waffle Nachos

Cut frozen waffles into triangles and bake until crispy. Top them with salsa, guacamole, and black beans for a unique take on nachos.

Sometimes all it takes is a new presentation in order to help your kiddo out of a “slump” or a picky eating phase. We love these chances to lean on versatile kid-friendly foods like frozen waffles to come up with other creative ways to serve meals and snacks.
