DIY Ranch Dip! A vegan, cashew-based ranch dip that’s great for vegetable dipping or drizzling on salads.

cashew ranch dip

We love dips!

As pediatric dietitians, we know that dips are an easy way to help kiddos enjoy more vegetables. There’s no need to fear them. While we love raw veggies on their own, we know that many kids (and adults!) don’t feel the same way.

And there’s no shame in that. As with all foods, vegetables need to taste good for our kids to like and accept them. A delicious dip can help do that!

This one is cashew-based, along with a little lemon juice and ranch seasonings. That’s it! Blend and enjoy. You can also thin this ranch dip with water, lemon juice or more olive oil to make a salad dressing.

Tips for Success

Soaking cashews does help them blend easier. However, we rarely think ahead to soak our cashews. To quick soak, cover cashews in boiling water for 5 minutes, then drain.

Or, you can just add your cashews directly to the blender and puree for a minute or two longer.

The dried seasonings is really what gives this dip the ranch flavor. You may also be able to use a ranch seasoning packet, though we haven’t tried it!

My 14 month old boy LOVED this dip! I added some spinach to the recipe and served with steamed veg and cucumber sticks and he couldn’t get enough. Thank you!!

This is so good!!! I made a few tiny tweaks- left out the olive oil, subbed plant milk for water and added a little extra until it got to the consistency I liked best and then I ended up added a smidge more dill too. And it’s even better after it hangs out in the fridge all night! Can’t stop dunking veggies in it!!!

I’ve tried several dairy-free home-made ranch dressings and haven’t been impressed. This one is really yummy! Thanks for a good simple recipe!
