11 Favorite Plant-Based Foods at Sprouts

Plant-based foods at Sprouts! If you’re looking for vegan food at Sprouts, here are some of our favorites.

Sprouts is a supermarket chain best known for its “farmer’s market” feel, offering a wide array of natural and organic foods. It has locations in 19 states scattered all across the US.

If you’re new to Sprouts or are just looking for ideas for your plant-based shopping trip there, you’re in the right place! Sprouts has always been a pretty plant-forward chain, but their options have exploded right alongside the plant-based foods industry. It’s a great place to get some of the harder-to-find vegan items you may want to try.

Below are 11 of our favorite plant-based foods at Sprouts.

1. Tofu and Tempeh

We use tofu and tempeh regularly in our family meal plans, and Sprouts has plenty of options. You’ll find firm and baked tofu, including flavored varieties like BBQ, Sriracha, and Teriyaki. As for tempeh, they sell organic original and tempeh bacon strips that work well in sandwiches and wraps.

2. Canned Beans and Lentils

Sprouts is a great place to stock up on your canned beans and lentils. They sell all types of canned beans under their own label, ranging from chickpeas and kidney beans to refried beans. We’ve found a few varieties of canned lentils too, which makes it easy to toss them into a recipe without having to cook them.

3. Packaged and Fresh Produce

One of the first things you’ll see walking into Sprouts is their colorful display of produce. Sprouts partners with farms across the country to get as much locally-grown produce as possible. In addition to grab-your-own fruits and veggies, they also have a wide variety of pre-packaged fresh produce. We like the little bags of snap peas, baby carrots, and cherry tomatoes for an easy snack.

4. Bulk Foods

Oh, the bulk food section, how we love you. Sprouts is the place to go if you want to bag your own dried beans, nuts, seeds, granola, trail mix ingredients, grains, dried fruit, and more (like chocolate).

5. Prepared Sauces

You know we love a good homemade sauce, but sometimes it’s nice to have some prepared ones on hand for those busier nights. Luckily, Sprouts has several plant-based pestos, queso, and pasta sauces that fit the bill.

6. Dairy-Free Butter

While many grocery chains carry Earth Balance now, Sprouts carries not only that brand, but also other dairy-free butter for cooking, baking, and spreading. Some of our favorites include Miyoko’s Creamery and Kite Hill vegan butter.

7. Dairy-Free Cheese

Sometimes a little bit of vegan cheese can go a long way to top a dish. If you’re looking for new options, Sprouts carries some of the “fancier” plant-based cheese products like Miyoko’s Liquid Pizza Mozzarella and Violife parmesan and feta blocks.

8. Lunchbox Snacks

No shopping trip is complete without grabbing new snacks for the kids to take to school. At Sprouts, you can find plenty, like Hippeas, Harvest Snaps, and Justin’s nut butter squeeze packs.

9. Sprouted Bread

Sprouted bread can be an acquired taste and texture for kids, but that’s why we like to rotate it into the mix regularly. Sprouts carries brands like Ezekial 4:9 and Little Northern Bakehouse.

10. Easy Breakfast Foods

Sprouts carries steel-cut, rolled, and quick-cooking oats for breakfast. They even carry some better prepared oatmeal options compared to other stores, like Purely Elizabeth, which contains no added sugar. You will find a huge aisle of cereals, which includes some lower-sugar options like certain flavors of Lovebird Foods, Cascadian Farms, and Love Grown brands.

11. Frozen Foods

With a vast frozen section, Sprouts is a good store to get your frozen fruits and veggies. For some prepared frozen foods, we like Dr. Praeger’s or Hilary’s veggie burgers for an easy lunch or dinner.

With their big selection, it’s easy to find plant-based foods at Sprouts. We hope this gives you some ideas for the next time you shop there!
