Loaded Apple Slices

Fun Friday snack idea— loaded apple slices— two ways! If your kids love apples and peanut butter, try these fun sandwiches.

A hand holding a round apple slice topped with peanut butter, raisins, granola, and maple syrup.

Why We Love Loaded Apple Slices

Do your kids tend to eat the same snack every day? These loaded apple slices are a great way to jazz up a snack routine rut. They’re the perfect mix of crunchy and sweet. The cream cheese or peanut butter provides a creamy spread for the topping to stick to, while the almonds and peanut butter provide healthy fats. The honey or maple syrup provides just enough zing to satisfy a kiddo with a sweet tooth.

Tips for Success

  • Get your kids involved in making them! Children are more likely to eat foods that they prepared themselves.
  • For younger kids, slice the apples thinly but with enough thickness to support the toppings. Younger kids might also have an easier time eating it if the peanut butter is spread thinly.
  • If your peanut butter is too hard to spread easily, transfer some to a microwave safe bowl, add a tiny bit of water, and microwave it for ten seconds. Stir. It should then be smooth enough to spread more easily.
  • Make both kinds of loaded apples and do a taste test! Make snack time a game and double the fun!
